What makes a Joker more valuable than a King?

No Love for The Joker

By

Anthony Labson

What makes a Joker more of a man

Than a king?

A king has hundreds of people

that serve him, prepare his food,

clothes him, cleans him,

and gets everything he wants.

Covered with jewelry, surrounded

by stone walls and steel.

He can start wars with whomever

And take other people’s land.

The people he conquers become his slaves

and he uses glory to explain chaos.

For that his name will go into the record books

and generations will remember his name.

A king’s ambition for power and the

preservation of his legacy is his only concern

even at the expense of the people “He” serves.

A Joker doesn’t need all this.

All a joker asks for is a smile

and he is willing to get it by his own

expense if necessary.

For that, you call him a fool.

My Grandfather, My Hero

Of all the good influences in my life, I have to say my grandfather, Nicholas Clementi was my biggest because of his belief in humanity. He grew up in a labor camp in Italy and escaped by braking his own hand so he could get through the hospital ward. Then he traveled through Europe and when he finally made it to America, it wasn't the warmest of welcomes. But he perservered and made a life for him and the last years of his life were some of the most wonderful of mine.
I say that becasue he shows me real faith, something I just don't see in people anymore. My grandfather had seen the worst of human beings but for some reason he never gave up on the human spirit. I asked him one time why and he said, "Yes, we have done horrible things in our history but I am comforted because just imagine how good this world will be once we channel our energy for positive outcomes." Maybe it's just because I'm young but I wish I could see the potential my grandfather did in humanity. So while I wait, I'll just remember my grandfather and remember the potential he saw in me so maybe I could help humanity reach their potential.

From my ebook, "Madness in a Recession" How I felt about losing weight.

Submission or Pride? I Can’t Decide

Children can be so cruel to one another,

and I became a victim of that cruelty first hand.

I wondered why it was considered not ok to pick on someone

based on race, religion or gender but it was ok

to pick on somebody because of weight.

Years of pity soon turned into periods of

rage, hatred, and even violence.

Jokes that would take a lifetime to tell and

words that will forever taint my soul.

So, I left a few scars of my own.

The only difference is that mine would show.

Cowards are strong with tongues, not fists.

That's when the picking stopped.

When the voices knew I would cross the line

and take things where they were too scared to go.

I found strength in their weakness and in their resentment.

I found joy once the picking stopped after years of trying to break

iron skin with hollow words responsible for the transformation.

Later, for my soul's sake, I lowered my guard but never

gave in to the resentment that follows me to this day.

But now things have changed.

When I was younger,

if someone had told me that I would die

in 12 months if I didn't lose the weight,

I would have said give me 11 months and

3 weeks

to think about it.

But now I am older and

I have friends who truly care about me

who want to see my outside match my inside.

Is that why I started? No.

My job requires lots of physical activity

that I can't keep up with because of my

lack of physical ability.

Is this why I've started? No.

Physical attraction sure sounds like enough

of a motive but is that why...

I'll save time by answering hell no!

Any woman that would just be with me

cause of the six pack can take six steps

back.

I look at my two cousins

who I've seen grow into two beautiful girls, and

I want to be alive to see them grow,

graduate and get married. Then

I also look at my nephew who was just born.

I want to be a part of his life and see him grow,

maybe into a football star, or just see him

become a great man like his father or

maybe his loving uncle.

Is this why I've started? Mostly.

It's the little part which I'm not sure about.

As I lose weight, I start to think back about those times

and all the anger comes back.

This is supposed to make me feel better about myself

and fill my soul with pride, but sometimes it feels like

submission to those words that have tainted me

like a scarlet letter.

I do notice the difference,

and I feel a new source of energy.

But feelings still remain.

I've always taken pride in myself

and my abilities because that's the way

I was brought up.

But am I feeling pride in what I'm doing,

or am I submitting to those voices?

I just can't figure out which one.

The future of 2 and 1/2 Men

Angus Jones leaves 2 1/2 men because he considers it "filth" and he wants to leave for college. While I respect his decision, he should be grateful to the show that paid his way to go to college while struggling artists are paying through the nose for their education. This will most likely be the final nail in the coffin with the famous sitcom. While a Ashton Kutcher has done a wonderful job keeping it alive with well written comedy and great chemistry with his co-workers. The fact is, the show is seems to be coming to an end.
After a strong 10, with an 11th season coming ahead, I highly doubt that there is enough steam to keep this train going. I could be wrong but a show that's called 2 1/2 men and it doesn't have the 1/2, it'll probably be just as awkward as Married with Children without Kelly and Bud. I can't see this sitcom going without 2 of the 3 veteran cast members. I wish all the best for the sitcom as a loyal fan, but I'm pretty sure we should all prepare ourselves for the most likely outcome. I do hope I'm wrong.

The NFL Draft/Dallas Cowboys

Any thoughts on the draft right now? I think the new Jacksonville/Dolphin's uniforms look nice. Personally, I'm a Dallas Cowboy fan and I have to say I'm upset so far. I feel as though there have been nothing but mistakes being made. First, is extending Romo's contract to 6 years and over 100 million dollars, waste of money. Second is releasing Marcus Spears, the man still has life in him and he performed well in the seasons. Finally, the fact that head coach Jason Garrett no longer has full control of his team.
Tony Romo, while I have all the respect in the world for him. He's done what he's can with the team, I feel as though his better days are behind him and while he's  a good quarterback, he's not the quarterback. I know one of the reasons Jerry Jones kept him because of his ratings. He rates last underneath names like Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Peyton and Eli Manning, anybody knows what binds them all? They all have a ring or more and they've been to the big game more than once but Romo hasn't even gotten passed to the NFC Championship round.
Romo deserves respect for what's he has done but he just can't win the big one and as a fan, that to me becomes a liability. Same goes for Marcus Spears, every game he played his heart out and just like Romo, he had the best years of career in Dallas but with the way the defense is looking, they can't afford to lose any of the good players even if they are seasoned. If they get a lot of defense players in the draft then at least this problem will be corrected.
The one factor that will determine how good the Cowboys season is will be the fact that Jason Garrett no longer calls plays. The fact that Jerry Jones had to take that power away from Garrett is a bad sign to fans because it shows an instablity of power. A coach is a figure head, a statement to the rest of the league that says I'm the guy in charge and I'll take the blame for our misfortunes and share the glory in our victories. It just looks like a bad omen and it's foreshadowing a dark season for the cowboy fans. Something has to happen in the draft and improvements needs to be made to show stability and reinforce the confidence in Cowboy fans.

What is Truth?

"The search for the truth will always be mankind's greatest journey as well as the most dangerous one." I heard Vincent Price say these immortal words in the 1960s version of the fly and they've always stuck with me. That makes me ask the question, do we as a species really want to know the truth or would we rather act like children and stay oblivious to everything. Truth be told, I can't blame them for wanting to be ignorant.
It is scary the numerous things that are out there both outside the earth and inside but part of being an adult is having to face these truths and accept them in daily life. But unfortunately, not everyone wants to be an adult and that's what hurts. What is your definition of Truth? Is it something that can just be said with no facts or scientific proof to back it up, then I'm very sorry that you have such low standards. We are human beings and we have minds!
We have various and wonderful advantages that poor souls in the past could never dream of and yet we still resort to primative ways of finding truth through the worst way possible. We're just taking other people's word for it. This isn't what people do, this is what drones do and what is the purpose of a drone? To keep doing what we're being directed to do until we just crash and soon after we are replaced by another drone. People have died in the name of finding the truth and you disrepect them by just listening to what other people think and accepting "their" truth.

Personal Belief

We are all just pieces on a chess board. But we do have the power to become Kings and Queens. We don’t have to be the pawns.

For people who need a kick in the pants.

Take responsibility of your life or someone will that doesn't have your best interests at heart.

Dedicated to Someone I Love.

Lady with the Golden Hair

Hair as golden as the sun

and lips as soft as pillows.

Eyes that are windows

to the gates of Heaven.

I would love to be lost

in your paradise.

I wish I could taste your cherry lips

and drink the juices within them.

Whenever she walks into a room,

the sunlight seems to dim.

When you open your mouth and sing,

you can make an opera silent.

With a simple touch of kindness,

you made a statue break out of his shell.

His blood raced through his veins again,

and his eyes filled with salty tears

at the sight of your smile.

I live today because of you then.

I go on now with the thought of seeing you again.

To hear your sweet voice call my name

and send chills through my body.

To feel the embrace

that can only be described as love.

Till I see you again,

my lady with the golden hair.

Love, Your Statue

Define Hell.

Met a Satanist tonight, nobody paid any attention to him, a few threats were made at him but nothing occured. I just had to ask, "Do you really want to go to Hell when you die?" If there is a Hell of course, no disrespect intended and to this he replied, "Yes!" So I just had to ask well how do you define Hell? He of course looked at me with a confused look on his face like I was the one that was crazy. I reminded him that Hell is generally defined as a place where we all come to terms with the sins we committed in the land of the living.
There are other beliefs I'm sure but I was just sticking with the general purpse and to this he replied, "Better to rule in Hell then serve in Heaven." To this I gave a short giggle but I digressed and suggested that he should think twice about his desires because it may not be up to him where he goes. For all I knew he was going to Heaven and to that remark again he looked at me as if I was crazy. So I decided, being the smart ass to give my reason behind the remark.
"If in fact that there is a Hell and it's purpose is to be a punishment for our sins then perhaps you would go to Heaven because for you, that would be Hell. There would be no hellfire and brimstone, there will just be white clouds and sunshine. And if there is a God, because of your desires to rule, he will make sure you spend an eternity serving his bathroom." He got irrated and he was the one given threats but I just walked away. My purpose in provoking him wasn't to preach religion but promote life, nobody truly knows where we're going and though we may have an idea, the best thing to do is live this gift and worry about it when it happens.
I'm not trying to be a rich man, a great man, not even "The Man." I'm just trying to be a man.

Our Responsibilty.

I met a man that's hands down one of the most miserable people I have the displeasure of meeting. As I walk on the beach he stands on a rock and preaches his problems. He has no wife, children that wish he wasn't their father. He has my sympathy but in the end, he's responsible for his own life. If we want something that could improve the quality of our lives, we have the obligation to do whatever it takes. It's our responsiblity to make our lives better and if something is in our way then we have to remove it.
I'm a writer, trying to make a name for myself in a world were I'm just a drop of water in the ocean so I have to work jobs to self publish my ebooks. I'm taking risks I can't afford to take and I haven't been able to have a social life for nearly 2 years. Am I whining about my issues, no because it's my life and I chose this difficult path, if you want to be a fish in a pond, you have to be a predator and not a trout.
Here's the cold hard truth; everyone has problems no matter what class or any other background we come from but the winners in this game aren't the ones who cry and want to start over. It's won by the people who keep rolling with what they got. So to put very frankly, either get up or shut tht hell up because nobody is going to help you if you won't help yourself. We all have lives and we all have responsibilties to make our lives better, this is mine trying to make something out of myself. What are you going to do?

Live and Let Doom Die

I'm a fan of "The Walking Dead" but these people that take the doomsday prophecy to the extreme disturb me. I'm not one to believe in fate but its these people that would see it happen make me nervous for the worse. Then there's this show "Doomsday Preppers." A show about people who live in bunkers, carry guns that give false protection, and fill towns with terror. These people are missing the true point of life, not to survive but to live.
There is no point in learning how to survive if you have nothing to live for. Say your sick fantasy happens, what then? You keep living a life of fear wondering when and what will come to rob you of your precious gift, you have no sense of who to trust and worst of all, you lose all your humanity. There has to be a hiring calling to life than preparing for death. Yes, there is the possiblity of "the end of days," but there are also several possiblities, positive ones. How bout we start preparing for those instead?
Prepare for the birth of your grandchildren, prepare for the preservation of our species, and lets just enjoy the moment. Life is too short to be worrying about something that could possibly happen. I rather enjoy a beer or a pepsi while being in bed with an incredibly beautiful woman, after having a fantastic dinner every night and to cap it all off. My favorite part of that whole process would be going to bed and being grateful that she'll be there when I wake up. I choose to live and let doomsday die.

Real friends

A real friend isn't just somebody that stands by you and always agrees. A real friend is somebody who will at times stand in front of you and tell you your wrong.

Food for thought.

Casting the Stone

By

Anthony Labson

As I walk up to the only gates that matter

I see three souls stuck in the clouds.

To my amazement,

They were sad, crying.

I thought it was because of the ones they left behind.

Their wives, children, and beloved friends

and the memories they spent with them.

But that’s not it. The souls appeared to have steam rising from their clothes.

I feared the worse for them.

I walk up to Him and I say,

“Hello, it’s been a long time coming.

May I ask why are they there and not joining me

in paradise?”

He says, “They thought themselves innocent.

They threw stones that started

building a foundation

that lead them to their damnation.

The first one is guilty of Murder.

No he did not kill his parents for money or his

best friend for his wife.

His killing spree started with ants, using the sun

to burn them and it didn’t end there.

Many animals followed, some were for sport,

others because he believed they had no value.

Pitting them against each other for money

or running over them on the street even though

he had time to stop and let them go.

All life is precious no matter how big or small

in size and purpose.

The second one is guilty of Baring False Witness.

He believed himself pure of faith and resented

all those who didn’t have the same conviction.

He memorized every line, he attended every ceremony,

He spent more time reading the word but

not understanding the meaning of the word.

He soon became consumed by that one fault.

The corrupted that followed would

be safe from his wrath and those

who would have the courage to stay innocent,

The scars he inflicted will now be measured unto

him.

The final one is guilty of Stealing.

No he didn’t steal a candy bar from a vendor

or a man’s prom date.

He stole homes and he stole futures hiding it

behind promise of progress.

He mentioned so much that could be gained,

before those who would gain great loss could fight back,

everything was already gone.

He claimed to be making better homes

and better neighborhoods but while he

reap the rewards of his new design,

hundreds were left out in the cold.

Unable to move back in those expensive new homes,

they now suffered in the streets while those

who already had homes took up more space.

Money isn’t the only thing that can be stolen

and here it has no value compared to a life.

That is why they wait for damnation.

They believed themselves without sin

and constantly kept throwing stones.

Now those stones will weigh them down into the inferno.”

My mind is full with fear now.

“Well then I won’t waste your time, I am guilty of such sins too.

I hunted deer in the season, I’m not the most devoted,

and I have stolen from time to time.

Sometimes it was a candy bar and sometimes it was more.”

He says, “But you never hid it.

You can admit your sins unto me

and that counts for something.

Now have a seat and let us begin.”

Control and Perfection

Perfection, it's nothing but a lie. Nothing is meant to be perfect, everything has it's flaws and those who deny this and pretend there's perfection are only proving that they are suffering on the inside. Life is all about struggle, we all do in our own way. If life was perfect, it be boring and irrelevant. There would be no point to a life where nothing would have to be done because it was "perfect" to begin with. The persuit of perfection is one of mankind's greatest flaws because it feeds our desire for control.
Control is at best, mankind's biggest illusion. We were never meant to control in this world. While yes we can control ourselves and how we live our lives, there are many elements on this planet that remind us from time to time, we control nothing. We build houses and the strongest winds blows them down, make roads and the rain floods them, and the strongest walls can't withstand the pressures of an ocean. Humanity was never meant to control but adapt.
Adapting is the one consist trait we have. We as a species have been able to survive the worst of nature's fury because we find a way. We are not meant to control such things like nature or the universe but we can be ready for whatever they throw our way. Now if we can only adapt to what we throw at ourselves, this world would be better right now.

Injustice: Gods Amongst Us Review

Just got my hands on this game and I have to say I started out as a doubter. No fatalites and the fact that it's rated teen was a big let down for me. However with a fantastic storyline and endless supply of side missions, this game deserves a 8 out of 10. While this may not have the Mortal Kombat fans behind this, NetherRealms Studios lives up to their reputation as a prestige game making titan. With a wide variety of gaming modes, great graphics and battle scenarios, this provides endless hours of entertainment.
One feature that really captured my eye was the S.T.A.R. Labs missions. For those who don't follow superheroes or have a life. (Lol j/k) S.T.A.R. Labs in Superman's city Metropolis charged with finding out about Superman's villians and lending aid to the man of steel when he needs help. The missions contain several task with the purpose of helping gamers harnest their skills to be better at the game. Both fun and is helpful for gamers who aren't use to Mortal Kombat or Soul Calibur games.
The other thing I'm just fallen over for is the costumes. To be a geek for a moment if I haven't been already, I love the various selection of what to wear as I beat Lex Luthor or Doomsday to a bloody pulp. Have to look my best when I'm going to war. (Lol) However if there's one item that I must address with the game, it's the controls.
For people whom never played fighting games, this shouldn't really be a problem. But for more experienced gamers, we may have a problem. While button mashing is always a problem when facing an opponent, the complete setup is changed so while your use to how the Mortal Kombat control is setup, Injustice is completely different and will take time to get use to. Whether your a fan of fighting games or DC games, this game is worthy of your attention unless you don't have the means yet but we'll discuss this another time. This game would be a solid 10 but without the usual touch of fatalites and the difficult controlling, it gets a solid 8.

How will the world respond to the actions of the President and most importantly, will it strengthen or weaken the nation he’s sworn to protect? Storm

I can’t believe it’s done.

With the touch of a needle,

my best friend is gone.

Somehow, that same needle punctured

 my heart.

I got you when you were a pup.

And for 13 years, I saw you grow

into a beautiful pure black Labrador.

The kind you would see in a show.

There were great times,

like running alongside you early in the morning,

throwing the ball around the yard,

showing you off to everyone and bragging,

playing tug of war with the rope.

But there were bad times,

like you barking in the middle of the night.

Your barks would sound like thunder.

Not to mention the hours of life used

picking up after you went inside the house.

But this moment is the worst.

When I realized that your time was coming,

I knew what I had to do, but I didn’t like it.

But I loved you too much

 to see you suffer.

I hope I did some good in staying with you

in that silent, ice-cold room

and talking to you so you wouldn’t hear

that silence till the end.

Oh, how I cried when I looked into your eyes

and told you “I’ll be seeing you again.”

I wonder if you knew what was coming.

Either way, I hope you knew my heart broke

for the first time that day.

I lost my first best friend.

His name was Storm.

And he was the best dog in the world

hands down.

How I feel about gun control.

One person's weapon is another person's shield.

what We want and hat We need.

Some groups believe that many people don't want to know the truth, that ignorance is bliss. That might be correct but who gave those people the right to decide what's best. This world is full of so many issues that aren't being addressed for the sole reason, people will be happier just being ignorant. We seem to be hiding issues the way parents hide problems from their children and that's what's happens when we are given what we want, we're acting like children.
We will never progress as long as the people accept this role that it's ok to be ignorant. Adults face these issues with courage and charge head on to resolve in a matter that is both expeditious and efficent. Only then can we finally grow into a culture that can only be discribed as flawless. When I was growing up, by now already we were suppose to be something out of a sci-fi television show or movie. We made it to the moon decades ago and it seems though as if we've been in a stand still.
Where are the flying cars or the moving side walks? Where are space ships that can take us out to deep space to explore new worlds? Are those even possibilites or was I being given something I wanted to see. Maybe instead if I was given what I needed to see, I realize we still have a long way to go before we can progress, not just nationally...but global. We all live in this world so I ask, would this world be better if we just threw all their cards on the table?

A FallenAngel

An angel is falling from the sky.

She is in a vortex, helplessly

going down a downward spiral,

screaming for help in mid air.

She looks so pure and innocent.

She is an angel, but she can’t fly.

And, as I look with a hawk’s eye, I see

her wings are broken.

I wonder why she has been sent to this realm,

a realm of my vision,

an endless forest were disruption meets oblivion

and lost souls meet renaissance.

She lands in the lake of my forest.

She is 5 foot 2 and about 130 pounds,

But, like a small stone, makes no splash,

just ripples in the water.

Yet, the impact sounds like that of an atom bomb.

I get on my stallion, the eternal mustang,

and ride to the lake where I see her

floating on her back like a flower.

I pull her out and go back to my cabin in the forest.

I put her in my bedroom

because there is no other.

I sleep in front of the fireplace

and wonder where to start.

The next day, she wakes up,

and I come in with breakfast.

She is startled, but I calm her down.

I tell her that I am a friend.

“I am one who cares for all.

I give comfort and shelter to those in need.

You may simple call me friend

because that’s all I’ll ever be.”

She eats the eggs I’ve made for her and

drinks the water that I’ve purified.

After a while, I finally ask her,

“Angel, why did you fall from the sky?”

She says, “I lost my way.

I just got bored with eternity,

so I wanted to leave.

I got my wish, and now I have nothing.

That’s why I guess I’m here,

to be forgotten.”

I say to her, “He doesn’t forget, and he does forgive.

Somebody so beautiful should express happiness, not fear.

In time, you will learn to smile again

and never again feel sorrow.”

With her wings wrapped and her body healed,

she begins to live with me here in the forest.

We take walks in the morning to see the sunrise and

have dinners in the front window of the cabin to see thesunset.

I cook her all my favorite recipes

from lasagna to baked ziti.

But when we get to the desert --

freshly made cherry pie -- her favorite.

Weeks after her arrival, she asks me,

“Why are you here?”

I tell her the truth.

“I was once lost like you were.

I fell just as you did, but found my way.

But unlike me, you still have a choice.”

She asks, “What kind of choice?”

I say, “You’ll know it when you feel it.”

She gets confused, but, months later,

confusion turns into compassion.

Many times, she welcomed me to bed with her.

Every time I declined, not because of un-attraction.

It was just going to make it easier on me in the end

because I knew the day was approaching.

A year has passed. Her wings are healed.

She flaps them up and down

and gets herself off the floor.

I smile at her success, but she can see

my invisible frown.

The time has come, and I say, “Let’s go to the lake.”

But when we go, there is no lake,

just an open field with a ray of light in the middle.

She sees now the choice that must be made.

Leave or stay?

There is no turning back.

But, before she makes the choice,

she asks me with a heart-broken voice,

“Why did you stay?”

I say, “I wasn’t the first.

I knew I wasn’t going to be the last.

I made the choice to stay

and help other angels like you and I.”

She asks, “What if I stay with you?

Help other angels by your side?

I can’t image eternity alone.

I don’t want that to be your fate.”

I say, “That’s not your choice to make.

This realm is of my vision.

This is my eternity, and this is how I choose to spend it.

If you decide to stay, I will be the one that goes.

Either way, one of us is leaving, and it’s going to be you.”

She says, “How do you know?”

I say, “Because you’ve learned again what’s most important.

Eternity is what you make of it.

This is mine, and I do it with pride.

Now you can go and find something to take pride in.”

Angel says, “I will miss you.

You gave me back so much.”

I say, “You’re welcome.

That complement is why I do this.

Now, it’s time to fly.”

She hugs and kisses me goodbye

then slowly moving towards the light,

never taking her eyes off me.

With new wings, she heads back to paradise.

As she disappears into the light,

I say, “Lord,

your child has returned to you.

My love and wishes go with you angel.”

I turn back and head for my cabin.

My energy is now spent.

My body is weak.

My head is light as a feather.

I now go to bed and sleep

until the next is sent.
