Movie Rivalries

Let's see there have been several movie rivalries.

1.King Kong vs Godzilla (1962)
2. Freddy vs Jason (2003)
3. Superman vs Batman (2015)

Who would you like to see go at it on the big screen?

Oldest Rivalry In The World

I loved The DaVinci Code and Angel and Demons By Dan Brown. I still have yet to read his new book Inferno but when I do then I'll write a review on it. The main reason why I loved these books, it's because they approach the oldest debate between two rivals. Fact and logic or Faith and Belief, that is the question. Which one do we follow and put our trust in is a question I'll leave up to you to choose.
Anything that causes a controversy, at least in the United States, is pretty much guaranteed to get attention and probably lead to some profit. When Dan Brown hit it big with his novels about Catholicism and it's dark history. Some who are deep believers would consider such works, blasphemy such as The Vatican whom when The DaVinci Code urged Catholics worldwide not to see the movie. Others would consider the history and facts and just come up with their own assumptions.
Another movie that approaches this rivalry is The Exorcism of Emily Rose, a movie about a poor girl who was supposedly possessed by the devil but others believe that she had a mental defect. Emily Rose was having delusions and acting unusual while doing sadistic things to her body and speaking in dead languages that she couldn't have known about at her age. It's based on actual events that lead to the poor girl's inevitably death and question, was she really sick or infected by the devil. It's like a coin and there's a 50/50 chance of whose right.
This isn't like most rivalries where there is a good guy and a bad guy, these are both ideologies that are meant to guide people to do what is right. Some would say what is the definition of what should be right and who gives that being the right to tell us and the other side would say he is divine and higher being so he must no better than us. Again, two sides of the coin and both have evidence that backs up their claim on how human beings should behave. It's a rivalry that will go on, probably till the end of time.
Human beings have come up with many origin stories of how we arrived here, what our purpose is, and where we are going when we die. Some see this as guidelines to how human beings should act and behave while others see it as a form of control and restrictions. When you grow up at some point in time you'll have to make a decision on which side of the road you want to step on or stay in the middle. Which ever you choose I only hope you do so because it's your choice and not a predetermined one by someone else.

The Merlin Show is available on Amazon. If it doesn't make you laugh then you're dead inside.

When I was growing up I always believed that the legend of King Arthur was something out of a modern day talk show. Think about it, a child from a king who manipulated a woman, who then rises to be king himself and marry a woman who would only cheat on him with his best friend. To make matters worse he would be manipulated into having intercouse with his half-sister and they would have a child of incest. If that doesn't sound like something that would make a great talk show topic then I don't know what does. With the hardest working wizard in talk shows with his trusty troll by his side, The Merlin Show is something good to read if you're looking for a break. A short and sweet piece for you to pick up, laugh and finish to put you in a better mood and enjoy your day.

Madness In A Recession is available on Amazon Kindle and Nook!

My name is Anthony Labson and this is my first ebook and it's mostly based on specific events in my life. This poetry book is also about the people I've met during one of the toughest times in my lifetime and the struggles they have gone through. Growing up wasn't easy for me so over the years I wrote these poems as a vent for my emotions and those emotions are in this ebook. For anyone that's ever felt like an outcast, lost their faith, or just hated life in general, this ebook is for you. My hope is when you read this ebook, you know that you are not alone and there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Why do I believe that this book is worth your purchase? All of these poems don’t just reflect me or one person but reflect specific issues that are universal. This isn't just a book of words coming together to fill a page. It's a book containing vast emotions experienced by several people who have experienced the recession in their own way. Some of these poems will make you laugh, some will make you cry, and some will even terrify you.

By the end of this ebook however, you will fall in love with one or more of these poems. It's my most sincere wish that you enjoy this and hopefully help me start and continue my career with writing. Thank you for your time and hopefully your purchase. Please be kind and share this with others so those still in the darkness can hopefully find a light. Until the next is written, enjoy and thank you again.

My screenplay, "The Wall" is available on Amazon. Only $0.99!

There is a secret society known to many as The Wall. For some, people who are working behind the scenes to maintain order when the law fails those that depend on the system for security. To others, a ruthless group of vigilantes that are taking the laws into their hands and destroying the very image of Justice. A eager reporter gains the opportunity to interview a leader of a Wall cell and during the interview, he listens to tales of members that are seperate but come together for a disturbing conclusion. In a country where not everyone can get justice because of reasons outside of their control, there is a place to go.

When criminals break the laws and are freed on technicalities and cracks in the system, they soon find that there are no technicalities or no cracks when they face The Wall. Nobody can hide behind a flawed system that protects the rights of those who don't deserve them. The guilty may appear innocent but with resources provided by unknown sources, they all break when they go head on with a society of vigilantes. When the system that's meant to protect the people it serves fails them, how do criminals not expect the people to fight back?

This is my first screenplay that I've written because I like to test my skills and take them to a new level. Everyone loves a person who works outside the lines but let us see how the world reacts when it's a whole society. Could we handle the possibility that there are people who forget about "systems" and "rights" for the "greater good?" Is it worth the risk of falling down the "slippery slope" that we are afraid is going to happen? Buy this ebook and decide for yourself and thank you for your time, until the next is written.

Sacrifice.

I was involved in a deep conversation today with a group of my friends and the subject in question was about why all the wrong people seem to be in power. The problem I have with that claim is that it's inaccurate. If they are the wrong people then how did they get to that position in the first place? I know everyone would like to make their claims about how people got places and I'm sorry to break hearts but it's nothing but irrelevant complaints.
They inherited it, they know somebody higher up, she slept her way to the top, he kissed ass all the time, and the list goes on but guess what, has all this complaining gotten you anywhere? At the end of the day it happens and you either have two choices, you can either sacrifice your pride and move on with your profession hoping your time will come. Or you can sacrifice all the hard work you've done and quit your job but at the end of the day, you will sacrifice something. I'm not telling people what they should do or how they should get ahead in life because it's your life and you'll have to live with what you've done.
Any business is like politics, if you want to get ahead in life you will have to sacrifice something. You can't be the boss of a company if you can't look a man who needs a job and tell him he's fired and you can't lead a nation if you can't tell parents your sending their sons to war. I'm not saying that what it comes down too but bottom line, if you're not willing to go certain places then don't plan on becoming anyone in life. Ask anyone who runs a business or a country and tell me if they don't have graveyards. If you found one then I would be surprised but I'm pretty sure I'm right on this.
There has to be a sacrifice for success whether it's giving up a food or a lifestyle. Ignoring your heart and listening to your head and what's better for business. Life is all about sacrifice and the question you face in your life is what are you sacrificing for? If other people are doing things that are considered to be "Dishonorable" then loathe them for it. But don't say that they are the wrong people because at the end of the day, it got them somewhere. Whether it was the right thing to do or not I'll let someone else decide because I'm not here to judge.

Synopsis of A Murder For A Murder: September 11th 2026

A day of remembrance turns into a dark déjà vu as once again there is a terrorist attack on the silver anniversary of September 11th. A group of civilians, including the Mayor of New York are being held hostage. Threatened by a group of terrorists that have been plotting the attack for years with deadly intentions in mind. Being held for a ransom, the President of the United States will be forced to make a choice. Will he give in to the demands of a murderer or do something so radical, it would change the very image of what America stands for.

The events of this date will bring back feelings from the first 9/11 attacks like anger and sorrow as well as desires for revenge and retribution. But will the United States repeat history and once again restart a circle of chaos or will the actions of the president change the course of history. How will the world respond to these actions and most importantly, will it strengthen or weaken the nation he’s sworn to protect? Who will rise with the sun on September 12th when the deadline is met? Policies will be challenged, people will be conflicted, and a nation will remember that terrorism only needs a time, a place, and the most important thing of all…casualties.

This is my first prose ebook to help start a long and hopefully successful career. I sincerely hope that you enjoy reading this story as I have creating it. It's always fascinating to wonder "what if" in the case of historical events and it's my wish that this book reminds people the most important truth we learn, especially here in the United States. Freedom isn't free. If you purchase this ebook I would like to give an early thank you and I hope you enjoy my other works, until the next is written.

50 Shades of Casting Over Reaction!

For the record, I haven't even touched one of the three books but I have to say I'm shocked at how people are reacting to the casting of the movie adaption. People are probably more pissed off about this than when Ben Affleck was cast as Batman in the untitled Man of Steel sequel. To those people who are upset, I have this to say to each and everyone of you. Chill out! In the grand scheme of movie adaptions, most of them have gotten a pass and I won't lie, some have bombed even miserably.
I can remember when my ex-girlfriend was a huge Twilight fan and I took her to see the movies. I was immediately turned off for number of reasons but I was amazed by her reaction. She hated the movie because of how disappointed in the special effects when the vampires in that movie sparkled in the daylight. I was like really?! Of all the things that was wrong with that movie, she was mad about that, but then again, Twilight is not my thing. No offense to people who enjoyed that series and I'm glad you did but I'm old fashion when it comes to supernatural creatures.
I understand that people have their reasons for hating a casting choice but if you're a true fan of whatever then please at least wait to see a trailer before making a decision. Personally, I wasn't a big fan of Chris Evans as Captain American because he was already exposed as Johnny Storm from Marvel's Fantastic Four. I also wasn't a fan of Chris Pine being casted as the famous Captain Kirk but guess what, in the end they both pulled it off. The purpose of reading is to give the power of imagination to you and the fact that Hollywood has a different point of view is unfair to the work. For all you know, they can go in a far better direction than you ever thought possible.
True fans need to give this movie adaption a fair shot. To automatically make up your mind before even seeing one clip or screen shot is like making a decision before listening to both sides of an argument. It makes you look like a fool. I'm not a big fan of erotica novels and I'm not at all interested in the movie but if I go to the theater and see a trailer of a great movie. I'm going to be there when it opens in the U.S. I would like to wish everyone involved good luck and I hope the author of the novels likes where Hollywood takes their work.

My Poem about Robin Williams! A real inspiration.

A Brilliant Robin

Ever since you and Mindy met,

I have never been able to keep my eyes off you.

When I saw you sail in with Olive

and flex your big forearms,

I knew you were a brilliant Robin.

I never needed toys

cause I watch you for amusement.

I never had to go fishing with grandpa

because I was watching a king on the screen.

The way you made us laugh with Comic Relief.

It was like watching poetry in motion,

like you were the leader of a dead society.

And you touched our hearts with more than comedy.

You’ve been everywhere from cold Moscow

to seeing a good morning in Vietnam.

Just to see you do what you can do

is a real awakening.

The way you can change colors

by turning into a big blue clown,

making dreams of a pauper come true

easier than saying Bibidy Bobidy Boo.

You’ve even changed sexes,

and proved that being an old lady

can be funny and lovable.

It’s almost like you have artificial intelligence.

Then, there is your voice

that hides so many others.

If I didn’t know any better Jack,

I’d say you were a machine covered in furry skin.

You can’t be real.

It’s like you popped out of Neverland

because you never get old in spirit.

There’s always a fresh joke for you to tell.

No birdcage can hold you.

I would have an easier time

trying to catch air with hands.

Your humor is what dreams can come.

You have done so much a man can do.

It’s almost like you have Insomnia

because you never seem to sleep.

You should be man of the year.

If there was a museum of you,

I’d wait all night there with happy feet.

I’d take a picture of you,

and rush it to one hour photo.

I hope somehow I get to meet you someday.

So, until then I will say thank you for everything.

You are a brilliant Robin, and, until there is another,

Good Hunting Mr. Williams.

One Year Anniversary.

Yesterday was my one year anniversary returning to writing with the self publication of my ebook of poetry, Madness In A Recession. 3 other ebooks followed and I'm currently working on my 5th which should be out sometime next year, Confessions Of A Vampire. I decided to do several different forms to show the world what I can do and that I'm not just limited to one discipline. As my first year comes to a close I have the following to show for it. Even though I consider it a slow start, I'm proud of the work I've done and I have a lot of people to thank.
I left college with my B.A. in English and after leaving Nova Southeastern University, I thought the world was going to be my oyster. I was going to get a job with a magazine or maybe a publishing house but then the recession hit and things went downhill from there. Even though I had experience being a freelance writer for the college newspaper and magazine, nothing really seemed to matter. After months of finding nothing, I just felt lost and submitted to what was 'secure' and took a job at a supermarket. It seemed logical because in a recession people are going to need food so it was a safe bet but while I was grateful, my life became empty.
I woke up, I did the same job over and over again but while good things where happening in the company for me, it still wasn't enough. A good friend of mine saw this and he gave me the best advice ever, self-publishing ebooks. Grant it that it's a long shot, it's sparked a fire in me that I never thought would return. So I returned to what I went to college to do and put myself tens of thousands of dollars in debt and I can say that for the first time ever, I saw the plan. I truly feel that I was meant to be there at that time so I can recover my passion and that was the beginning of my self publishing career.
It's been a long hard, expensive, and exhausting year trying to get these 4 ebooks going and I hope anyone who reads this will look me up and amazon and try them out. I have a lot of regrets right now in my life but I can honestly say that following my passion, is not one of them. If I were told right now that nothing would come of my works, I would still put everything I have into them. There is nothing more that give me life than creating worlds, building characters and giving them lives that I would love to live myself. This is what I was put on this world to do even if it doesn't mean anything in the end.
I've had a slow start my first year with only a few followers and my page on is still starting out but I keep the faith in the unknown. A foundation has to be built on something and I'm grateful for how far I've come and I can't wait to see what the future holds. I want to personally thank my friends, God, my family, my fans and everyone who has and will support me. I would also like to say to anyone who wants to be writer, "Keep the faith." In the darkest of times, that one purchase can bring you out and help you see the light and all you need is to make your mark at least once.
