Keep Breathing

Feet planted firm.
Nails razor sharp.
Wounds healed
and skin hardened.

After months of
an onslaught of acid tears
and unforgiving winds.
She survived the storm.

Now pain is just a word.
The tears have run their course.
Her head is up
and vision looking forward.

The path was torture,
the heartache was an anchor,
but the chain is broken.
The weight of another is cut loose.

All it took was one breath
to get started.
She kept breathing,
now she has no shadow.

A broken heart
solidified in fire.
A damaged soul
refueled in faith.

To all that need to breathe
just look at her and see.
There’s always light to reach.
You just have to keep breathing.
